The Network Engineering Staff and Team Assignments

Design and maintenance of a wide area network touches on broad subject areas, yet also requires a depth of knowledge within each subject.To solve this conundrum, we make use of special teams, each charged with its own sphere of excellence.

Triage touches on each team, bridging the gap between the Helpdesk (Tier 1) and the special teams (Tier 3) troubleshooting common network problems and handling routine customer requests.Many customer queries may be resolved at this level.

Triage escalates requests to the appropriate team and helps customers collect the information and documentation the WAN staff will need to complete your requests.

The LAN / WAN Team is responsible for network consultation, site visits, and router and switch configuration and installation.

The Wireless Team performs wireless network consultation, site survey, configuration and maintenance.

The Security Team, as the name suggests, is responsible for network security and security consultation.

The Services Team manages our mail hubs, POP3/listserver, domain-name services, web hosting, news, ftp, time, directory, certificate, authentication, authorization, accounting and access services.

The Monitoring Team is responsible for SNMP monitoring of the WAN and enterprise servers. The Monitoring group will also work with departments to provide monitoring services for local network resources via DII’s monitoring tools.
