Call Processor
The Fairpoint Centrex phone system has the ability to utilize a call processor or automated attendant service. The programmed call processor allows a department to route telephone calls to a pre-determined internal telephone number by offering callers a list of option numbers and corresponding services. For example, a call processor may give a caller options like, “Press 3 for Telecommunications”. This feature is typically utilized to keep the front receptionist free from answering a bulk of the inbound telephone calls for a particular group of employees, which allows for other activities such as directing visitors.
