The planning and design of the data infrastructure in the Wide Area Network (WAN), Metro Area Network (MAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) environments is critical to the success and performance of all the applications and systems that run across them. In many systems these days the network must be designed from one side of the state to the other with special prioritization of the traffic as well as data security and encryption to ensure compliance with departmental regulatory guidelines. Even within Agencies or Departments isolation of data flow between business units is often required.
