The following policies and standards have been developed by the State Web Task Force. These policies apply to all three branches of Vermont State Government including all state agencies and departments and state sponsored organizations including all boards and councils.

All policies must be adhered to whenever creating a new Web site or redesigning an existing Web site.

Vermont Web Policies

• Web Accessibility Policy - It is the policy of the State of Vermont to ensure that people with hearing, visual and other disabilities have equal access to public information that has been made available by the state on the World Wide Web.
• Web Accessibility Standard (V 1.1) - Standards to support the Web Accessibility Policy.
• Web Look and Feel Policy - All State of Vermont web sites should maintain a common look and feel and a common navigational framework. The goal of this policy is to allow users to easily access all information on any state developed web site.
• Web Look and Feel Standard (V 2.0) - Updated standards to support the Web Look and Feel Policy
• Web Look and Feel Standard for Mobile Devices - Special standards for mobile devices to support the Common Look and Feel Policy
• Web Look and Feel Standard for Map Sites - Special standards for sites that display interactive maps to support the Common Look and Feel Policy.
• State Web Usability Standard - A set of standards to ensure state Web sites are easy and convenient to use.
• Web Domain Name Policy - All State of Vermont Web sites that provide state information to the public, provide e-government services, or provide access to state resources shall use domain names in accordance with the requirements set out in the Web Domain Name Standards.
• Web Domain Name Standard - Standards to support the Web Domain Name Policy
• Web Image Use Policy - Policy on the use and licensing of images used on State of Vermont Web sites.
• Web File Naming Standard - A standard to standardize the formation of file names used on State of Vermont Web sites.
• Web Blogging Policy - A policy to assist state staff who are assigned to maintain a Web log.
• Social Networking Guidelines - Guidelines of Proper Use of Social Media for State of Vermont Government
