Users’ email subfolders in outlook may not be visible in either the mailbox or the online archive

20 December 2017

12/27/17 - Note: Microsoft has posted a  service health advisory regarding this issue in the tenant.

Event:  Users’ email subfolders in outlook may not be visible in either the mailbox or the online archive

Who:    All email users

When: Currently

What: Outlook email subfolder visibility

Impact: Issue is experienced where the user is missing email folders in their mailbox (not named folders like “Inbox” but user created subfolders for filing emails).  The mail is still accessible via search, and exploring the mailbox with the MFCMAPI tool reveals that the email is, in fact, still present in the mailbox in the correct folders.  It is a view issue.  There are no advisories in the tenant, but the tech assured me that they will be publishing one shortly.  Both the Outlook and Exchange product engineering teams at Microsoft are aware of the issue and are working to resolve the issue.
