Verizon Security Breach 7/14/17

Event: Verizon recently reported that misconfigured server may have exposed as many as 6 million customer records, although Verizon is reporting that “no loss or theft of customer information occurred.” The misconfiguration has since been corrected.

Who:   Anyone who has a cell phone with service on Verizon

When: The misconfiguration occurred on June 22nd, and was corrected by July 1st, but was only reported publicly on July 12th.

What: Users are advised to log on to their Verizon account and change their password as a precaution.

Impact: Low

Contact: Since this is NOT a State of Vermont Breach anyone with concerns should contact Verizon if they have questions.
