DII has contracted with GlobalSign for ManagedSSL services. GlobalSign has pre-vetted many state domains such as vermont.gov, vt.gov and state.vt.us allowing DII staff to issue, reissue, renew, and revoke OrganizationSSL certificates for those domains and their subdomains on demand
Typically, SSL is used to secure credit card transactions, data transfer and logins, and more recently is becoming the norm when securing browsing of social media sites. When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol (over port 443) and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser. SSL Certificates bind together:
- A domain name, server name or hostname.
- An organizational identity (i.e. company name) and location.
This service provides a high degree of standardization and automation and provides standard support services.
DII can issue DomainSSL certificates at an expedited speed and reduced cost.
Hours of DII Support Operations are Monday –Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 pm
For all service and support inquiries
Self Service Portal – Log into LANDesk
- AHS, VSMS and TAX go to LANDesk Self-Service
- If your domain is different from above (for example AOT or DFR) go to explicit logon
- Or Call 802-828-6620 or toll free 1-855-828-6620 - Option 1
The OrganizationSSL certificates will be issued with the Organization name of “State of Vermont Department of Information and Innovation”. Your Agency or Department is named below that.
If your Agency or Department requires a different Organization field for the certificate, we can also issue DomainSSL certificates via the ManagedSSL portal. This may require one or two extra steps to validate domain ownership prior to certificate issuance (depending on the domain name to be secured), but allows DII to extend the reduced contract pricing to the rest of state government.
SAN, IP, Wildcard
We can provide certificates that support special features such as securing multiple subject alternative names (SAN) and/or IP addresses with a single certificate. We can also obtain wildcard certificates which secure a domain and dependent subdomains.
