Migrating to a single file and print operating system provides a more consolidated IT architecture. It reduces the need for multiple products for related infrastructure such as directories, inventory, software management, auditing, etc. It would result in increase short-term cost during the migration but reduced long-term cost. We already have the domain in place (VSMS) Vermont State Managed Services.

 
We are in the process of creating a consolidated Active Directory environment that will enable us to provide File and Print Services to more departments and agencies. We are currently in the planning stage and expect the migration to begin in the spring of 2009.
